Fresh Start

Now that it's the new year, why not have a fresh start for your hair? This could be simple like a new hair cut, or it could be a new hair colour. Then you could perhaps dip dye it. A new hair colour can completely change the way people see you: whether it makes you seem more gothic, or more girly.

Style of 2121

Many people believe that in a hundred years or so, mankind will have accomplished the art of robotics, so it is important to look our best for our new friends. Here is some advice for the "futuristic" look:
        Equipment:
Silver hair dye
Purple dip dye (or pink, blue or green- its up to you)
Hair bleach
Silver lipstick
Silver eye shadow
Black eye liner
Black mascara
          Method:
1) Bleach hair
2) Dye hair silver, and follow instructions on packet.
3) Then dip the ends the other colour dye. Do not bleach before hand
4) To finish the look, apply a thick layer of silver lipstick.
5) Then paint your eyelids silver.
6) Add on the mascara, and then the eyeliner.
Tadaa! If you want to look completely futuristic, then dress in silver clothing.

Back in the 70s...

Want to go for that wild 70s look? Then follow these simple steps to achieve this classic pop rock look:
NOTE: FOR THIS STYLE YOU WILL NEED A LOT OF BLEACH
1) Straighten your hair.
2) Make sure your hair is the colour you want. Then bleach your hair up to 15cm from the bottom of your hair.
3) Pour some blue hair dye into a bowl, and dip your hair in it until all of the 15cm is covered.
4) Bleach 10cm of the blue hair, so you have a 5cm strip of blue.
5) Pour some green hair dye into a bowl, and dip dye the 10cm strip.
6) Bleach 7cm of the green hair, so 3cm is green and 5cm is blue.
7) Pour some pink hair dye into a bowl, and dip the 7cm strip.
8) Bleach 6cm of the pink so you have a 1cm strip of pink.
9) Pour some purple hair dye into a bowl, and dip the 6cm strip.
10) Without bleaching the remaining 4cm, dip 2cm of it blue, and then bleach the rest.
This is how to get the 70s dip-dye. For the complete look, keep on reading
11) Now tip your head upside down and brush the roots of your hair.
12) Then spray with hairspray.
13) Using hair straighteners/ a crimper, crimp your hair
14) To finish off, tie a ribbon, bandana or scarf around your head.
                       To finish the look...
15) Wear some bright flared trousers and a completely contrasting coloured top.
16) Shove on some platform shoes and... BINGO.

My dream dip dye

The perfect hair for me is long brown hair, with the classic ombre dip at the end. No colour, just blonde. Well, actually, brown to blonde to light blonde to bleached. This is perfect, no colour and looks awesome but natural when done correctly.

Give it a go!

Next week, I am going to a concert and I am going to do my hair using techniques from this blog. I am redying my hair completely, and then using L'Oreal Wild Ombres for the dip dye effect.

Equipment:
B Blonde Powder Bleach
L'Oreal caramel blonde hair colourant
L'Oreal Wild Wild Ombres no.3
Hair Art Green Rub In
Hair Straighteners
Mascara and Eyeliner
Method:
1) Firstly, I am going to bleach my hair.
2)Then I am going to straighten it, so I can see how even the bleach is.
3) Then I will dye my hair, and restraighten it.
4) I will use the Wild Ombres to then make the dip dye effect.
5) For that "Friday Night Look" I will then use Hair Art green rub in at the end of my blonde dip dye, to jazz up the classic blonde.
6) Then, to finish the look, I will do my makeup subtly, so as not to draw attention away from my hair.

Favourite of the minute...11:48

In my opinion, most dip dyes and highlights look great- but my favourite right now (at 11:48) is brown hair, with a blonde dip dye, with bleached ends, with just a dash of colour at the end. This can be very eye catching, and no matter how inexperienced you are, it always look proffessional.

What about my fringe?

Fringe:

If you have a full fringe, I would do one of three things so it would go with your dip dye:
1) Dip dye your fringe- this can look cool, but make sure you choose the right colour otherwise you could look like a punk!
2) Add highlgrs- this can also look amazing, without making it look gothic.
3) Let it be! Adding colour to your fringe can make your hair look "over messed with"

Side fringe:

If you have a side fringe, I would do one of three things- 2 of which are very similar to eachother:
1) Add highlights- this can tone down the effectiveness of the dip dye, but it can also look amazing.
2) Add a single highlight at the front of your fringe- this looks amazing and cool, but not too "out there"
3) Let it be! Just having the dip dye can look drastic enough! Even though jazzing up your side fringe can look really cool, it will take away the cool factor of the dip dye.
